The short hop across to Vasiliki gave us 3 hours to drive north to the port of Igoumenitsa, not far from the Albania border to catch a Minoan Ferry across the Adriatic to Ancona. Again, we had booked 'Camping on Board' tickets so that we could remain in the camper for the 15 hour crossing with our own comfortable double beds rather than have a cabin.

You can still use all the facilities on the Ferry, but as most people were smoking up in the restaurant and bar, which is still allowed inside, it was much fresher down below. Unlike channel ferries the sides are 'open' allowing a great view of the sea passing by at over 30 knots!

Our arrival in Ancona was in a downpour but the signposts for Rimini were clear and we headed towards Lake Garda, our destination for the next few days. The ferry back to Ancona reduced the drive through Italy by over 300 miles and overall saved time and money as the fuel and tolls would have been more than the extra ferry cost. We would maybe take the ferry from Venice one way next time.
